Townshend Audio manufactures a range of separate audio components of the highest sonic quality that combine

to create the finest domestic reproduction music system available today.

All Townshend Audio components can be used individually to enhance and upgrade any existing system.

Meanwhile if you already have a system comprising various components, then isolating these components from

deleterious vibration by placing them on a Seismic Sink Stand, putting the loudspeakers on StellaStands and utilising

Townshend Audio Enhanced Deep Cryogenic Treated (EDCT) interconnect cables and Townshend Audio Isolda

impedance matched speaker cables will dramatically improve the accuracy and musical performance of your system.

Rock 7 receives an awesome review in HiFi Choice (June 09)!

“….The calm platform that the Rock 7 offers confers a sense of effortlessness to vinylreplay that makes for very convincing instruments and voices… when you’ve got a great recording, you know about it.”

“…The turntable is so good at digging out fine detail: at low and high level you get the full picture of the music…”

The Rock V

Runner-up best product of the year 2008 Hi-Fi Choice

"This is a record player that works spectacularly well.

Once you hear the Rock and the effect of the front-of-arm damping, there is only one way to play

gramophone records and in my opinion, this is it!"

Noel Sidebottom: Popular Music Curator & Acquisitions Manager British Library Sound Archive.

New Townshend Audio Stella Speaker stand variants

Townshend Audio is proud to announce the introduction of dedicated versions of the acclaimed Stella speaker stands for:

1) The Martin Logan ”Summit”  Loudspeaker system

and

2) The Quad ESL-2805 and the ESL-2905 electrostatic loudspeakers

These stands are designed specifically for the particular footprints and weight distribution patterns of these very high performance speakers, the performance of which is improved very markedly by the use of the Stella stands.

Townshend Audio’s universally acclaimed Isolda cable now upgraded !

1)  Enhanced deep-cryogenic treated (EDCT) copper used throughout production. Previously the process involved cooling alone, whereas with the enhanced process, heating and temperature shelving, according to a propitiatory process, is now employed.

Now our research has revealed that this enhanced treatment improves the sound to a remarkable degree.

2) All Isolda impedance matched speaker cables now employ an improved, electrically balanced filter/stabilizing network at the amplifier end. In addition, a frequency normalizing network at the speaker end ensures that the cable presents a constant 10 ohms impedance load to the amplifier from 10 kilohertz right up to 100 Megahertz, regardless of the speaker impedance.

The cable is thus rendered effectively “electronically invisible” (in audio terms) particularly when using solid-state amplification. This simplifies and eases the work done by the amplifier, allowing it perform in a more linear fashion.

3) All Isolda cables now use a very smart compact light-weight black anodised aluminium case, one at each end, to handle the transition from the flat braid covered copper strips to the two tail wires. This arrangement allows for a simple connection to the amplifier and speaker banana or spade terminations as well as performing an essential housekeeping function that prevents the main copper conductors from “kinking” when the cable is coiled as well as safely housing the electronic components.

The ‘black art’ of hi-fi cables

There is no topic in audio engineering more controversial than the subject of cables.

Arguments and reasoning as to why one brand of cable may perform better than another brand are

riddled with ‘voodoo’ and pseudo science.
In fact, cables can and do make a significant difference to the performance of an audio system.

For empirical evidence showing how and why most loudspeaker cables actually distort the accuracy

of a signal – and proof that the design and construction of Townshend Audio Isolda speaker cable

is based on solid engineering practices – see our explanatory video demonstration below:
